Sector Support

Damage to infrastructure. Disrupted supply chains. Threats to production. Changes to consumer demand, regulations, and insurance coverage.

Climate change impacts it all and so much more. This is why we’ve created customized services specifically to help farmers, fishers, tourism operators, sector associations, and other businesses address today’s issues while preparing for what’s ahead.

To date, we’ve helped and are helping:

  • producers understand what climate changes to expect, when and where they may happen, and how risks can increase over time
  • make farm-level adaptation action more possible by working with farmers to identify priority capacity needs at the provincial level
  • the aquaculture sector (oysters and salmon) build long-term plans for future climate and environmental changes
  • manage a funding program that helps protect and upgrade important seafood and fishing infrastructure
  • tourism operators and associations identify practical ways to prepare for climate impacts
  • implement an adaptation strategy for the electricity sector

Please note that services offered for the municipal sector can be found under the Climate Adaptation and Resilience Training (CART) Program.

Looking for customized support to meet your specific needs? We do that, too!

We know that everyone, every community, organization, business and agency faces climate change risks differently. While there are proven best practices for climate change adaptation, what works in one place may not work in another. In Atlantic Canada, building resilience means paying close attention to local environmental conditions, community priorities, and economic realities, and learning from the people already doing the work on the ground.

That’s why CLIMAtlantic tailors its support to meet your specific needs.

Whether you’re dealing with a particular challenge or exploring a new project, we’ll work with you to understand your context, explore practical options, and deliver the right mix of tools, information, and hands-on support. These customized services can include helping you to:

  • interpret climate data
  • deliver presentations or workshops
  • collaborate directly on projects
  • connect with others doing relevant adaptation work
